    LGA 02/18/2013(AA new colors)

Mark, Manny and myself braved the cold to catch the arrival but much nicer for the departure.

Braved indeed!!!! I still can't feel one of my digits Nice hanging out with the boys!

It will be no surprise our shots are almost identical ...

ESB and NYC Skyline in the background and Rikers Island Correctional Facility below..

I screwed up ALL my departure shots as I was depressed that they were using 31 which is close to impossible to shoot departures from ... we used the only decent option available, through-the-[dirty]-glass-shooting... which Eric got the best of...

The new livery is slowly growing on me. Great shots folks, you can tell it was cold by just looking at them.

Eric and Manny.....the departure shots through the glass look sweet. Wish I would have made it to the bridge! Oh well...........next time.

Here are mine from the park (first time being there.......and it's awesome!).

Love that last shot Mark! That new AA will make its way everywhere soon enough so I'm content to wait for a less freezing month to catch it

Thanks William.......you are right with the new livery making its way everywhere soon. Unfortunately the light for us almost dead on the nose of the aircraft...if the aircraft came in about an hour or more earlier the light would have been much better. The light was perfect for the departure but really hard to find a suitable outdoor location at LGA for 31 departures.

    Mark,
What glass did you use to get that great Empire state shot?

That was coming into LGA this morning (Feb 18th). Alas, I didn't stick around at LGA and missed the new AA colors, but it looks like y'all handled it alright. Nice work.

Hey you guys rule. Nice shots of the new AA. Wish I were out there with ya. By the time I catch one,
that livery will probably be as common as house flies.

That park is GREAT early in the day, clearer the better, since you need good visibility to get the good skyline shots. But in the winter....that is one cold place. I used to live on block from it, and grew up in that town.

Phil, every time I go there, I think of you as a kid growing up there... indeed your name came up a few times yesterday

    Don, for mine, 70-200mm f/2.8 + TC-17. I believe Mark used 300mm f/2.8 + TC-14

    Here are a couple with the 200-400mm f/4 + TC-17 (different day)

Manny ....... sweet shots with the 200-400mm + 1.7X TC.

Don ..... Manny is right, for my shots I used the 300mm f/2.8 with the 1.4X TC on a cropped sensor body. Side on, I couldn't fit the aircraft in the frame since I had a little too much reach.

Phil ..... what an awesome place to grown up near! I am looking forward to going there more often once the weather gets warmer. The wind was relentless there too once you got to the interior of the park, but the view is spectacular. I think the 500mm with or without the a converter will do well there.
