Why I Wasn't Spotting Last Weekend (Lots of Pix!)

I took my annual trip to Mopar Heaven, the All Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle, PA. ACN is one of a number of shows during the year at Carlisle, each featuring a different manufacturer or theme (Fords, Corvettes, trucks, etc.) There are usually manufacturer displays, concept cars, specially invited cars, as well as a large vendor area. But the heart of the show is the "Fun Field" where anyone with a car that fits the show (in this case Chrysler products) can enter. I've been going to ACN for about a dozen years, and now that I have a running Dodge, I've entered it on the Fun Field the last few years.

Deliveries of the new Challenger started just in time for them to make an appearance at ACN. There were about 8 of them on the show field.

Not to mention a gaggle of original Challengers.

And a quite a few 'Cudas as well.

Some of the more than 2,000 cars on the show field.

Lots of old Mopar metal - and they sure used a lot of it back then.

Back in the early '70s, Chrysler was know for their "High Impact" colors - Sublime, Plum Crazy, Hemi Orange.

You can get those old High Impact colors again today on the new Charger.

But my favorite of the High Impact colors has to be color code FM3 - Panther Pink/Moulon Rouge:

And since Jeep is a Chrysler brand, they had a rock climb set up.

This one was special for me - it's a 1959 Plymouth Savoy sedan. My folks had one, and when I was born, I came home from the hospital in it, and I've been a Mopar guy ever since!

Saturday afternoon we were treated to some excitement - one of the larger vendors of Mopar reproduction parts had his tent raided by police. He was arrested and all his merchandise was confiscated. Apparently Chrysler has been after him for several years for selling repro parts with Chrysler logos but refusing to pay licensing fees, and they finally got the law after him. I closed out the day at the annual Mopar Mailing List BBQ. I've been on the MML (an internet mailing list) for about 12 years, and each year at Carlisle we get together for a BBQ, truly the social event of the season.

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.
