    P&W Canada Boeing 720 TRIP #2 PIX

    Greetings,
I went back to PBG to get some shots of the Pratt and Whitney Canada Boeing 720 again. Since it was in the hanger before I was not able to get full aircraft shots. I was advised the 720 would depart at Tuesday at 11am and will depart back to CYHU. C-FETB took off 2h:16m mins late due to hydraulic leak on the left inboard leading edge flap.
I will only post external shots this time as my previous thread of this aircraft covered mainly the interior.
The weather crapped out just as the aircraft was pulled out of the hanger and departed but considering the total experience the WX was a non issue.
The most interesting part of the shoot was riding in the tug as it was pulled out of the hanger and to the taxiway and getting to talk to the pilots of the 720.

Thanks again to P&WC for their time and willingness to maximize my experience while at their facility.

Once again, Senga - AWESOME shots! How many people can say that they have a picture of a Boeing 720 being towed, taken from inside the tug, in mid-2008?! Lucky, lucky!

    Yea really!
    However,
I wonder many how many people can say it happened two times in less than 15 mins!

    Just perfect Senga!

Love those shots.. .they're now a valuable document in this chapter of commercial aviation history for those who care about such things.. the "last days" of the 720.
    (so to speak..)

So sad to see the other one in a dismembered state.

    Thanks for sharing these.

Thanks, I am glad you guys are enjoying the shots of the 720.

That is very true Tom, This is the last 720 flying now. We lost C-FETB's sister ship N720PW (blue) last year and also the Honeywell 720 earlier this year. Sadly P&WC N720PW will be broken up in 2 weeks or so. C-FETB is also the last 707 type being operated out of Canada if I am not mistakened. I have been told it will be retiered in around a years time. There was some chatter that it was supposed to be retired this past fall but LUCKLY for me this was not the case it things changed.
Heres the death slip for N720PW.
I noticed it as I was walking around N720PW after it was brought back into the hanger.

Its like a Cadevers toe Tag

    NP John,
I'm sure it bring back memories of your KC-135 days. You should repost those shots you took again :)

nice shots as always senga! shame the wx didn't hold out, though i like the spray getting kicked up on the takeoff roll...
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

    Matt,
That is actually dirt. I asked the ramp guys whats up with all the "mist" too. Then he said oh its DIRT.
"Thats what happens when the runway isn't cleaned for ages and an aircraft of that size doesnt take off on that side for weeks or months at a time".
The only 2 large planes that operate out of this airport are the P&W 747SP and the 720. The 720 ONLY comes to PBG every other month for maintenance.

that makes sense, though it's pretty wierd in and of itself. what size aircraft normally use that airport?
