Southwest jet skids off snowy GEG runway

SPOKANE -- A Southwest Airlines jet slid off a runway while making a snowy landing at Spokane International Airport on Sunday.

The Federal Aviation Administration in Seattle confirmed that flight 485 from Albuquerque to Spokane skidded off the runway during landing. The flight also made stops in Sacramento and Portland.

Already the media is very misleading. According to the pilot, "We didn't go off the runway, I was just trying to make a few extra bucks by taking the grass, which is quicker. Taxiway Bravo goes like eleventy miles further."

    Glad everyone's ok.

again? they do say third time's the charm...
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Just to update from the website.

    118 on board , twas a -300.

Plane had slowed to a stop, but reported bad braking. Was taxing off the runway and plane went 90 degrees off runway.

The bigger story is that ATC didn't see this and mistakenly cleared the AS jet to land, and luckily the AS Jet stopped short in time before smashing into the WN jet.

Ryan-- There's time for jokes, and I don't think this would be quite appropiate considering someone did die as a result of that accident. It is still very painful to a lot of WN employees, though I of course wasn't with WN when it happened. But I appreciate the attempt at humor ;)
