    JFK 22s 2 Close 2nite

So I get out of the LIRR at Hicksville and see that JFK is landing 22 at this time (5:30). Thats cool. Nice clear evening I
can check them out when I get home. I have good viewing in my backyard. So I'm sitting in my car ready for the light to change by 107/Woodbury Road at 5:40 when I look up to see an inbound jet WITH A SECOND RIGHT BEHIND HIM!! A little higher for sure but there wasnt a whole lot of distance between the two. They looked like a flight of two. I'm not exaggerating. Unfortunately the light changed and I had to drive so I couldnt see what was happening. Sure maybe there was enough altitude and distance between the two but you could have fooled me. They really shouldnt have been THAT close. And the first jet wasnt that high either, maybe 1500 feet!! Pretty wild stuff!!
And they're still coming over hot and heavy now!!

Its amazing what odd things you'll see out of the ordinary over time.

A few years back I was over by Canarsie Pier watching JFK inbounds on the Canarsie approach. Suddenly one heavy comes right behind another ..maybe not quite 30 seconds later. Never seen this before. Ultimately I believe one went 13L and the other 13R, but still....

The 22 and 13 config is one of the most dangerous runway configurations in the nation...people don't realize how many close calls there are when JFK is using 22L and 13L

For a short period last night they were arriving on both 22L and 22R. They were bringing in the AC going to 22R at about 1000 feet higher then 22L. So what you did see was 2 very close AC but separated by 1000" in altitude. There was even one or two that crossed paths only separated by 1000" over by carle place.

That could have been the one that I saw as Carle Place is just west of Hicksville.
I went out with my dogs last night at 9:30 and they were still utilizing R22.
    Thanks for the reply.
