    JFK question

With southern winds (mostlikely), which spotting locations will be good for pictures at JFK? I'm planning on coming down with few other IAD guys this Saturday. For the first time I want to get some departure shots at JFK (if winds alows).
How should we plan our day?

    Thanks,
    Rafal

    Re: JFK question

If you are particularly looking for interesting depatures, there are roughly 2 waves. The first wave happens between 11 and 1, with EK, NH, JL, TG, TAM leaving. Sometimes you get CI and World Air cargo leaving, too. The 2nd wave is the European departure in the afternoon. But with earlier sunset, your window is getting narrower. In between, the only worthwhile departure is CX around 4:30pm. Listen to ATIS and plan accordingly .

    Re: JFK question

This Saturday is LGA Kids Day, if you guys are interested, between 12 and 4.

The advice above is good. Departures should start closer to late afternoon and you'll miss some with the earlier sunset that's been coming towards us.
