    Fantastic flyby of TAP 310

Over the years, I've taken a liking to the 310.

I think the flyby here is dangerously insane, yet I'm captivated by it. Comments?

I saw this a couple of hours ago on Anet and my jaw just dropped when that thing makes that first bank. The wing is literally inches away from the ground!

Was he really allowed to do that? I wonder if TAP execs would be angry. But that is just amazing though.

WOW! that third video's got the best perspective! that bank was insanely low, and why did he do it with the gear down?
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Wouldn't have been the first time TAP had a wing strike.... did it at EWR in 2003

I agree with Phil I can't imagine that being sanctioned by TAP..very impressive but also very careless.

Look at those photographers scurry about to get shots of her banking. We're such nerds! :-)

I wish more commercial airlines got into the airshows. It's great publicity, why don't they do it? Even as static displays?

Heres a cool video of a Northwest 747-4 at Willow Run Airshow in 1992, including a low bank. Don't mind the newscaster who gets the engines wrong (NW uses Pratt's not the CF-6's)

Just be thankful they didn't try to do a barrel roll..... only real planes can do that one.... :D

Putting aside its no 707 though.. I do have to agree with Mario.. the A310 has grown on me too.

I caught Arabasco at EWR a few days ago, and couldn't help wish we had a few more liveries to shoot of those types..

The flaps are down for the lower stall speed. As to why the gear is down, perhaps the Airbus software won't let you deploy the flaps past a certain limit with the gear up, so in order to get the flaps at the ideal setting, the gear had to be extended as well.

But who wouldn't want to see the A310 dirty roll!

you're probably right. damn automated airplanes!!

mario, i've got to agree with you though. the A310 has a very unique shape to it. it does look pretty good in military colors:

You guys are too fast. I spent 10 minutes looking for the shot of the TAP A310 with bent wingtip and its my shot. He landed on 22L, took out eight runway lights, taxied to the gate and didn't mention a thing, maybe he didn't realize it. Oh, by the way, the President of Portugal was on board. Eeek!

The video of the flyby is absolutely amazing.... That pilot definately deserves to go to flight school detention.
