Air Force One to Visit JFK on Thursday September 16th

Air Force One will fly President Obama to New York on Thursday afternoon. Judging by the TFRs, it looks like he will then fly Marine One to Stamford, Connecticut to attend a fundraiser for US Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Is that faster than flying into Bradley? Or can Bradley not handle a 747?

BDL can handle anything...they took an A380 divert last weekend and I think they see 747 freighters pretty frequently, but JFK is a lot closer.

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Ya know I didnt realize that. Thought Bradley was closer but a quick Mapquest shows JFK-Stamford 40 miles with BDL-Stamford 92 miles.

As usual, I will watch him coast over head at about 1,000 feet or so and feel an urge to puke as it does so. On another note, BDL sees the An124. My folks have packed many a Sikorsky on to them out of BDL. It can handle anything including the Myria.

Looks like it may start raining just as the TFR is scheduled to begin at 4:30pm.

Won't be great weather for a chopper ride...will they still use Marine One?

The eagle has landed, just before the storms. Hearing reports that she flew up the East River and hooked a right over Brooklyn enroute to 13L rather than the usual 31R action.

I was wondering the same thing. Must have all been in the timing. What time they touched down and they could get him on Marine 1. This is a powerful and deadly storm with tornado
warnings for NYC. But also moving very fast.

Cablevision 301CV just past my house into FRG (7:09) so I guess things have calmed down though I see on the radar more rain and some TStorms still to the West.

    AF1 just departed 13L

Tower: There's going to be a 15min departure hold.
Airline pilot: Is this due to weather or other?
