YVR Spotting Pics 8/13 (Warning: 20 Photos)

Spotting in Vancouver is amazing, like other Canadian airports I have spotted at. You can get very close to the runway on all sides of the airport and you can also manage to get above the fence in many spots.

Our hotel was located 10 minutes away from the airport so we started the day off early and headed over to the Avis parking lot which is where the classic YVR touchdown shot can be obtained from (a ladder is needed). I managed to sit on the roof of the car and shoot over the fence but after a few planes landed I realized the heat haze was too much and would ruin the pictures so we moved on to a different spot located next to the Air Canada maintenance center in a big field.

The traffic at YVR is very decent at times with Cathay, Lufthansa, Air New Zealand, and LTU all landing back to back at one point. Between 6:30pm and 8:00pm the light is straight down the runway leaving with you little options to shoot.

Those are great shots Gordon. IMO Vancouver has only a very few good spots to take pictures, but they're well located and you get superb backdrops, as shown on your pictures,

My votes go to the Air China A332 and to the MP 763 in the retro scheme. I'd love to see that one!
