We are getting reports this afternoon of a shooting in or around Terminal 3 at LAX. That terminal is home to JetBlue, Spirit, Allegiant, Frontier, Virgin America, and Virgin Australia. Passengers in the terminal were evacuated onto the tarmac and lounges were locked down. Reportedly, at least 2 individuals were shot by at least one person in the drop-off area with an assault weapon. There is currently a ground stop in place for all flights bound for LAX, though there are reports of flights already in the air being allowed to land.

Update 1:35 pm EST: All roads in and out of LAX are closed at this time. If you have a flight scheduled in or out of LAX today, you should contact your carrier. All inbound flights are being held at their origin until at least 11:00am PDT.

Update 1:50 pm EST: LAX is reporting on twitter that a suspect is in custody and that there are “multiple victims.” Additionally, Virgin America has announced that all of its flights in and out of LAX are suspended at this time.

Update 3:15pm EST: LAX and law enforcement officials seven people were treated, with six of them being transported to hospitals, with 3 of them having been shot. One of the victims was a TSA Agent. The shooting was executed by only one suspect, and took place before the TSA checkpoint at the Ticket Document Checking area.

Update 3:41pm EST: LA County Coroner reporting that one 40 year old male has died in the LAX Shooting. It is unknown if he is a victim or shooter.

Update 6:09pm EST: Associated Press identified the shooter as 23 year old Paul Ciancia.
