Great news for planespotters and photographers living in or visiting Los Angeles: The observation deck atop the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Theme Building will reopen to visitors on Saturday, July 10th!
The deck was closed due to security concerns following the 9/11 attacks. New security measures such as bag searches will be in place for the deck, which offers a 360 degree panoramic view of the airport.
Admission is free, and visitors can stay as long as they would like. Visiting hours will be limited to Saturdays and Sundays only, 8am to 5pm.
Built in 1961, the iconic structure resembling a flying saucer on legs has undergone a $12.3 million renovation over the past few years.
Check back on Sunday for a full report and photos from the deck’s first day!
