tyson_111209_mainFormer boxer Mike Tyson was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday afternoon after getting into a scuffle with a paparazzi photographer.

The incident happened at 4:30pm at United Airlines’ ticket counter inside Terminal 7. An unnamed photographer apparently became aggressive while trying to take a photo of Tyson, and the former heavyweight champ responded with a blow to the face. The paparazzi was taken to a hospital in a wahmbulance with a laceration on his forehead.

It is unknown whether the photographer swung at Tyson at all in the short, one round bout, but both parties are pressing charges on each other. Tyson’s rep claims that Iron Mike was defending his 10-year-old daughter who was traveling with him. There are also reports that the photographer was following Tyson around, including during a visit to the bathroom.

Tyson was released after being detained for several hours with bail set at $20,000. With having been a boxing champion, his charges can be elevated to assault with a deadly weapon.

If the photographer had remained at the photo location recommended in the spotting guide, none of this would have happened.
