No More Helicopter Tours? New York and New Jersey Officials Seek a Ban

Sightseeing helicopter tours are an increasingly attraction for NYC tourists. However they have also become increasingly unpopular among local residents and politicians, who are calling for them to be banned.

Theyve been screaming about this since the 90s!! Remember when Island/NY Helicopter ran their huge flight ops out of East 34st? Everything was great until they built apartment buidings right by the FDR and 34 and 33st and the NEW tenants start howling!! Didnt matter the heliport was there since, what, the 60s? Like people who buy houses next to airports then comnplain about noisy planes!! DOH!! I think the helicopter industry has been doing there best to alleviate noise issues but that isnt good enough!! And they always throw in the mid air between the copter and the plane on the Hudson and scream "SEE!! ITS DANGEROUS"!!!!! Ugh!!

I love Menendez' line about how "we can't have a sky full of helicopters". Why not? We have roads increasingly jammed with cars

How do they plan to compensate the businesses that will be severely affected. There isn't anything near NYC anyone wants to fly over and take in from the air as much as Manhattan ... Besides, if they can't regulate a Big Gulp, I say stay the hell away from freedoms that aren't harming anyone.

They should stick to other dangers like idiots raping women and thugs robbing older women or the animal haters that beat dogs. Seems to me there is plenty of fresh meat there for them to spend their time on legislating.
