KRIC-6/25/13: An RJ, a Trijet, and a Surprise

    Hello All,

As the mid-Atlantic has been enjoying the most awful, protracted, rainy period here in VA, I haven't been able to get much in the way of spotting done. However, I did manage to sneak out to Richmond International for a bit this morning to catch our essentially regular, weekly Kalitta 727 hop. RIC is a bit of a graveyard traffic wise, only saw 3 aircraft in about 45 minutes. Anyhow, the photos.

A boring RJ, yes (but a guy has to check out the light somehow)

    The star of the show

And the surprise, a nice USAF Gulfstream beating up the pattern

Hope you enjoyed this small set,

    Cheers!

    Nick

Thanks Mark! She was quite the sight. Normally approaches to Rwy 16 are quite boring, straight-in's over the trees. Kalitta showed up banking hard over the nearby gas station to get lined up at the last second, smoke and sound galore.

Very nice, Nick! I know a guy who is a 727 captain for Kalitta, I'll have to see if he was flying this one.

Very sweet catch of the Trijet - I caught one of their DC-9's down at FLL a while ago - also a nice surprise!

    Thanks Mark!

And Moose, please do! I would be more than happy to send him the photo. Hmmm, if only he could get me ramp access to shoot the 727 some more
