    JFK 8-8-12 [Terminal 5 Spotting + Flight!]

    Happy 5th Birthday, Virgin America!!

A daily arrival now, it seems

Go around off 22R, as it seems that tower forgot that US Air was sitting at the end of the runway, waiting for takeoff clearance

My outgoing ride, incoming on 22R

    Never seen this guy before

40,000' ? I thought airline routes and corridor in the US was up to 35K and from 40K to space it was military only

Anyway, I love the takeoff shots showing the field. And did you log your complaint of the dirty windows? :P

Ok, somebody is wrong then. The IFE map channel showed us at 40,000 feet throughout cruising. However, flightaware shows us topped out at 38,000 feet. That's kind of a big difference!

I was just happy to have an exit row seat, forget the cleanliness of the window.

Flights are definitely being routed at a high altitude today, due to storms. Planefinder shows right now that N661JB is at 38,400, American N891NN is at 40,000, as is Air Tran N174AT.

40,000 is routine for those airliners that can handle it.
Heck Manny, G5's are typically at FL450, and the Citation X has a serviceable ceiling of 51,000'!
