    LAX over Labor Day weekend

    Hi everyone,
I have planned a trip to LAX for spotting over Labor Day weekend. I know about Imperial Hill, In N Out, and the Theme Building but are there any others places, especially for ground level shots ie: taxiing aircraft? Has anyone been to the beach for photos just off the end of the airport, ever any problems? I'm going with a couple of folks from out Boston spotting group and if anyone would like to meet up with us you are more than welcome.

    Gene,

I've only been there once, but I can tell you that the beach at the end of the runways is good for departures, and I can assume if they were on a reverse flow that it would be great for arrivals in the AM. The parking garage is great for night shots.

Gene, for ground level shots I recommend going to the "Flight Path Museum" which is near Imperial Hill. Depending who's around you may be able to get out the ramp for some shots. Depending on the conditions you may encounter lots of heat shimmer off the tarmac, but you may also get some sweet shots. Here are some shots from the museum:

I got a couple from the beach, well worth it. Bring the 100-400mm.

    Thanks Gene,

We didn't get hassled by the police while up there. Didn't even see any security drive through the garage.
