Heard a bunch of choppers hovering over the neighborhood after work, and it finally got me off the couch to discover a large plume of smoke and the sky glowing orange several blocks up on the main drag in Wallingford--a neighborhood north of downtown. I went upstairs to get my camera and could see the flames from there. By the time I got over the half mile or so it was pretty under control - I missed out on the best photo ops. The homeowner was nowhere to be found, but I was told there were no injuries. The Seattle FD response was enormous - several blocks of trucks and nearly 100 firemen responded.
I hope the person who lost their residence tonight has somewhere to go.
