KBOS 11/26/2011 - Constitution Beach

I was meeting some friends in Boston today late in the afternoon so I decided to head up early and get in some spotting. I didn't get up there at sunrise as I had hoped to (got there at noon), and they were split between 22L and 27 for arrivals. I decided to head to Constitution Beach since the heavies will generally come in on 22L when split. Well, only two heavies came in while I was there, but I was able to get some taxi shots. The light was kinda tricky for the first hour and half, but I made due.

The only special of the afternoon (at least while I was there)

Steve, Gald you got a few hours of spotting in while you were up in Boston... You did very well with the low Winter light.... and the short days....

Thanks Moose and Mark.......Rich, great shots. Looks like the pilot of the Lufty threw her down on the runway pretty hard. Where did you take that shot from? Norther portion of Constitution Beach or Bayswater St?

Steve, Lufthansa carries a lot of cargo into and out of Logan... so she's always heavy on landings... and thats why she's always using 22L instead of 27 when there is a South or West wind..

That shot was taken from the Northern part of the beach from the walkway over pass to the MBTA station...

Yeah, I remember you telling me about the cargo load, which is one reason why I chose to shoot from the beach as opposed to going over to winthrop. I knew she would land on 22L.

And I was shooting from right next to the hockey rink up, sitting up on the hill above the jogging path. Then for my last few shots I made my way down to the water by the fence at the yatch club.
