Waterford Speedbowl 5/28/2011 (Feat. ISMA Super modifieds)

My brother is the crew chief for a small race team at the local oval track and he informed me that the ISMA Super Modified series was in town this weekend. So, I decided to throw the kids and the camera in the truck and head out to the track. Here's a few pics from the night.

Side note, the track's lighting system isn't that great so most of my shots after the sun went down was shot at high ISO. Many after sundown shots were not salvageable.

    ISMA Super Mods race:

For those of you that followed NASCAR a few years ago, Johny Benson Jr was racing Saturday night in this car. Please excuse quality on this shot. ISO 6400.

The night ended with the Super mods race even though there were supposed to be two more races. The Super Mods had a 50 lap feature and were turning about a 10 sec lap but still took almost an hour and half to run all 50 laps. Red flagged twice. IT actually took them 3 tries to complete the first lap. By the time that race was ending the fog had rolled in to the point where we couldn't see the back straight on a 3/8 mile oval track.

Really nice, Steve! After airplanes, auto racing is my favorite. These were well done.

Thanks guys! I was happy with how they came out especially since they were shot from up in the grandstands with only a small area where I could get unobstructed shots. I'm gonna be trying to find out I can get access to the infield with the rest of the photogs.
