    F-18's at Teterboro 10/22

Two F-18's arrived Teterboro around 1pm today. They are parked on the Signature apron on the east side of the field but the view of them from near the museum is blocked by 2 bizjets.

Another Navy aircraft arrived later but I couldn't read it when it landed and there was no sign of it when I drove round about 4pm.

If anyone has access to ramps at TEB I would be interested in knowing the serials!

My guess is that they're here for the Notre Dame vs. Navy football game tomorrow @ the Meadowlands.

I'd forgotten about that! May have to take another ride up there tomorrow to see what else has turned up!

They did the flyby when Navy was running out of the tunnel.

It was the Rampagers from VFA-83 flying C's.

ERW traffic had the pattern directly over the stadium so I'm guessing that they were holding up there just to stay clear.

And they were making very large circles and having some fun while at it. A couple of times they fired up their afterburners. It was hilarious seeing the other hikers looking up and getting all scared and inquisitive as if they don;t know what a plane is geesh!

Well if I didnt know better and saw two military fighters circling around and firing up afterburners I might get a little nervous also.
That whole post 9/11 stuff doesnt sit well with some people. As a dedicated member of NYCA and an aviation enthusiast you could have reached out and gave them
a little inside info to allay their fears.
    Just saying.

Actually, all I did was educate almost everyone who was around and looked scared/puzzled. Once they knew they were legit and it was not a real threat, they mostly just complained of the noise.

I think the hills amplified it more that it really was as it would bounce off one hill side to the other and back. I am so immune to afterburners from years of airshow attendance I guess.

Yeah I guess if you want a nice quiet day hiking in the mountains that might be annoying.
Good job giving them a heads up.
