What's up with Turtles and planes?

IMO a pretty DB move by Airtran and poor judgement on the flightcrew's behalf. I wonder how many 1000s it cost Airtran to turn this plane around to remove a 2 inch turtle?

They allow "household birds" in the cabin, but turn the aircraft back for a hatchling slider? The salmonella bacteria bit mostly hysteria. Sure its good these things are not sold by the tens of thousands anymore for 5 year olds to put in their mouths, but beyond that, not to worry much.

It belongs in a pond and not a cage anyway tho...

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
