    Sands L-1011 N388LS KEWR PIX

    Greetings Humans,
Went to JFK to shoot the Sands L-1011 N388LS. I noticed N388LS landed at 12:04am at EWR last night and I headed out right after I got home from JFK. Right when I sat down and saw the L-101 just landed at KEWR I was back on the road this time to EWR.

I already have this frame from its better years- when it flew for Saudi Arabian Royal Flight as HZ-HM6 SVA006 in March, 2005. Because of this N388LS was a minor success since I already had the frame. Getting L-1011s in this day and age is next to impossible and N388LS is a very poor example of one of the most attractive aircraft ever built. Out of all the L-1011 Tristars I have shot this is the the most sterile. Either way I needed it as am happy to add it to my collection.

This is what EWR REALLY looked like when I shot the plane

Nice Senga, It was pretty epic to see her on the downwind at LAX then land and taxi. It's a shame she rarely is flies but hey an SP isn't so bad either.

Man, getting an L-1011 in flight is near to the top of planes I want to catch...I'd go pretty far to get it if I could be guaranteed to get her. I agree the Sands scheme is not especially exciting, particularly in comparison to the Saudi scheme.

    That's true Nick,
I'd rather see the Tristar fly more so than the SP. I I wish they had a second Tristar.

    Jerslice,
It did look nice in the SVA colors. I only had that one chance to get it in that livery then it went to Sands.

They do, 389. Actually both 388 and 389 are the second to last and last Tristar built. What I don't get is 388 has a lot more hours and cycles.

Where as 389 has a lot less use.

I would fly 389, they probably could fly it more and get more use out of it.

Do any of the other casinos own widebodies?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Far as I know no, BBJs and Gulfstreams mostly.

I'm an idiot so, before I begin.... S-E-G-A!!!!!

That avatar B kickin' butts! (no pun intended)

Now on to the plane, this aircraft is beautiful in any livery, only 2 things that bother me about the Sands paint is too much blue and no titles but it's expected being a corporate plane. I think the current Saudia scheme plain (no pun intended) SUCKS! There ain't nothin' going on about that sand color and dark blue (compared to the old green-tailed one which was gorgeous). Only thing decent there now is the tail logo. Possibly have this same frame unfortunately in current SV colors.

The 1011 is just beautiful, might be my favorite 3/4 approach view of any widebody with all wing devices hanging out on landing config. Did SV use standard body VIP TriStars too? Any left in SV colors?

Good for you Mike! I am very glad to get a clean shot of her at LAX and cross her off the list! Very elusive bird.

    Sorry for the late reply
I have been out of town since June 21st.

    Mario,
Glad you like the Avatar and I know some of the late 20s and 30 somethings know about the Icon :) Brings back lots of Memories :)
I agree, The SVA current colors isn't much to be exited about however it still have a really nice tail logo and has a great around "Ethnic" flair to it. I never did get a chance to get the old colors. I had one chance several years back at IAD and of course they brought in the new colors.

    Mike P.
I talked to you over the phone about the plane..Did you end up getting it? And now I read that you did get it.....congrats :)

    Thanks Chris,
Glad to get this one behind me..on to the next.
