    KDSM 4-28-2010

I have been shooting mostly video for the past 15 years, and I've taken pictures with diposable cameras, but today I picked up a used Canon Rebel XS. I've got a long way to go,but it was fun. Anyway here are a few pictures from Des Moines,IA.

No,I haven't tried editing them, yet. I'm new at taking pictures. I'm trying to figure out the proper settings, and what all the features do on the camera. I'm also trying to learn what all the terminology means like soft, sharp, etc.

Soft means the photo came out on the down side. It isnt what it could be Sharp is how well it came out. Just be careful about oversharpening it. A good program that kenny pointed out to me is gimp. Google it and you can download it and use it for free. Its a good program to use and will sharpen up your photos a bit. I use it now and it helps. I'm still learning myself.

How do I get pictures in Raw format into a format where I can upload images on this site?

Watch your dbl and triple posting dude. You cannot upload directly to this site. You need an image hosting site for that like photobucket, imageshack, or servimg(what i use) If your going to try and get your photos onto jetphoto or Anet they will be rejected. Also what size are these images origionally?

I can't tell if it's the Apocalypse or 2012 two years ahead of schedule, but I think one of them just hit.

The KC-135 picture is originally 3888x2592 and the American Eagle is 2424x1725.

Doug, I would suggest uploading these test shots on the photography forum and get some photo feedback there, that's the right forum. For starters, doesn't look like you have the lens needed to shoot aircraft this far away. Yes they need to be sharpened but Step Numero 1 is to have an idea of what a good aircraft photo should look like.

    cheers,
    Mario
