I picked the day to head out to JFK to spot today, first time in a month in a half.. Started out by Bayswater then also went to a nice small location to get the rwy 4R arrivals at Bayview Ave/B 69th St...

    From Bayview Ave

I think what he meant was Bayfield Ave and Beach 69th St.

Beautiful shots from both locations. I would have to check them out some day

I'm a little confused about the Bayview spot. I see it on the map, but its location to me implies that runway 4 arrivals would have the planes to the north of you, traveling from left to right, which is the opposite of what those planes are doing. Help?

Looks to me that 4R arrivals would be moving right to left.

Does anyone know the deal with Edgemere Park? Is that open? From Bayswater I've never seen anyone over there other than Federales during UN week. Seems like it would be a perfect replacement for Bayswater, perhaps even better because it's elevated at least 20-30 feet.

Me too. When I did my 4'S spotting in the afternoon I was in B 90's.

You're right, I see it now. I was looking in the wrong location.

As for Edgemere, I was thinking the same. I looked on Google Street View in the area and saw a gate that you'd need to enter, and there were signs all around it. I couldn't see what they said but I assume one of them said something along the lines of GTFO.

Egdemere park is a landfill or used to be. I thinks its some type of recycling center now.

Just did some research...you're right it was a landfill, now it is just fenced off because I guess you can't let kids run around a landfill...laaaame. The southern part, including two fishing piers, is open, however. But...it's adjacent to what appears to be a housing project. Requires some investigation.

Idk if this is any constolation but I was buying Checkers today and they were using the 22's for arrivals. From the checkers lot the planes seemed high but then i thought about eisenhower park. I think we could spot from there since they do have a few hills there. I will update on this when I investigate it further.

Pretty sure they're too high at Eisenhower.
