    Requests for pictures

I get lots of emails asking for freebies, here is a recent one... The question is, how often do you get these? I do donate photos, but it better be a good reason. This is organization that has quite of bit of money flowing in and out but want anything they can get for free. Non profit does help to get free stuff but my website is NON PROFIT so if he wants an image, he can help me to get OUT OF THE RED. It is sad when I have to pay more for my website that I make with it, and that does not include my time, equipment, knowledge and editing time. I am expecting him to also haggle with price....I will not.

so how often do you get these and how do you handle?

We are redoing our website and would love to use some of your work on the site’s home page. Can you tell me if you would be amenable to either donate some of your work with attribution or to sell us some of your work so that we can use it royalty free thereafter on the website."

    Re: Requests for pictures

When you say they have a lot of money flowing in and out...is that just for the cause? Even if they COLLECT a lot of money, they may not have a large budget for expenditures. If you're taking money away from the actual cause itself, I'd say donate. Also keep in mind it will be a web-quality photo, so there is little processing compared to printing.

Also, would they give you photo credit?

Tough call with the inability to know/research the actual organization.

Remember: Non-profit does not necessarily mean charity.
