I heard them plug the burners. They were VMFA-251 Thunderbolts from MCAS Beufort.

Were they here before the flyby or did they fly in and then out?

Thanks. Wonder where they went for 45 minutes? Touring the area? :)

Hope they were doing something good, because they were about a minute late for the flyby.

I had a great angle to shoot them right over the CitiField sign had they done what I expected them to do. Unfortunately they didn't fly directly from centerfield, they came more from right-center, which was essentially right over my head and only visible to me for a split second before the Pepsi Porch blocked them. :(
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

it takes time to get set up for formation flight. they also need to get talking with the departure controllers and get tuned in with the person on the ground working thier timing. and yes, i'm sure they got a good view of NYC from thier perch. you also don't want to be late for something like this, meaning they were just burning circles in the sky waiting for the star spangled banner...

and the XO was flight lead. too bad no full color CAG colors though.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Phil, nice job with the flyover, you seemed to know right where to aim the camera and when, good catch.

    Cheers

Was there a moment of silence in honor of Harry Kalas? I heard there was... but didn't believe it.

Leave it to the marines to screw up a flyover. :P

    Kidding, of course.
