It should figure that the first offer to spot from BOS should come up on the day before I leave BOS for good!
I'd really love to sirloin, but I don't think I'll be able to peel myself away from packing for a few hours.
Do you need to know anything about BOS (schedules, locations, food, you name it)? If you do, I'm your man.

So, some quick info:
The European heavies have been arriving, lately, in the following order and variant:
12:45-1:30: AA B772, BA B744, AZ B763
2:30-3:45: LH A346, AZ B763, AA B763, AF B744, AI A333(x2) (Air One A332 and an Iberia A343 should be in here somewhere too)
4:30-6: NW A333, VA A346, BA 772
Spotting locations depend on runway action of course, and your transportation options.
If you're only stuck at the airport - go to the terminal B parking garage and stake out a spot on either the 4th or 5th levels. I will warn you however that Massport and the MA State Police are VERY proactive on keeping photogs away from this area. Be discreet if you go and be prepared to be kicked out - the probability is HIGH that you will be. You can contact the office of Phil Orlandella (media relations) to get permission, but with such little turn around time they honestly won't get it done in time. The view is better from the 5th level - but the 4th level will keep you out of the view of the tower (lower chance of getting booted) and, in bad weather, let you shoot rain free. I'd also highly recommend taking a walk around the sky bridges (good ramp action, especially for US, CO, and DL), and into the Terminal C playplace (sucky windows but every heavy will pass by here). I have not had security issues from the sky bridges or playplace.

By this I mean if the winds are blowing in such a way that the 22's and 27's are in use (I'm not familiar with the runway useage procedures, so this is basically a hypothetical question), will some heavies use the 22's and others the 27's?

-The 22's can be spotted via public transport by taking blue line to Orient Heights - then walk to Constitution Beach. Good after noon only. This trip will take about 10 minutes
-The 4's can be spotted by taking silver line to South Station then taking bus route 7 (City Point) to Farragut Rd. then walk across street to the park you won't be able to miss. Count on a good 30min to an hour, good all day.
-27/9 cannot be spotted easily via public transportation - I don't recommend it
-33 cannot be spotted at all really

Um...let's see. If the primary traffic pattern has a/c arriving on the:
4's: heavies will always use 4R*
22's: heavies will always use 22L*
33L: you're screwed - the parking garage can work but you need a big lens
27: heavies will usually use this, but they can and will double up on 33L or 22L depending on exactly what the winds are. This is not uncommon.
*Always means 95% of the time or more
Take down the ATIS number to track the runways in use - this can save your butt with Logan. Especially when dependent on public transport... (617) 567-0160
