Since I took off from babysitting today, I had no plans at all so I headed out to LGA to get the rwy 13 departures which I rarely do. So I spent a nice day there at the Pedestrian Bridge and World Fair Marina.... Here are my shots..... Enjoy!!

Spotting on 9-11 and not a single cop came by to say hello?

Perhaps we are becoming a bit complacent.

Nice pics Sergio, love those maddog bank shots.

Mario, I'm not sure I agree with your statement there (and perhaps this discussion doesn't belong in this thread), but I don't think that not being visited by the cops while spotting on 9/11 qualifies as "complacent". I would think that cops are much better utilized patrolling for other more dangerous or terrorist-like activities than someone with a camera in a public place close to an airport. Also, I would think that spotters NOT getting harassed by police (or anyone for that matter) on any day is a good thing. I don't see what's so special about spotting on 9/11 and law enforcement regarding the same. Perhaps I'm missing the point?

The point regarding complacency is overflow from anohter discussion. But you are talking to someone who was detained for 3 hours for spotting on a major holiday. That given, I would never spot on 9-11, but I'm glad Sergio was able to and not be hassled.

Detained for 3 hours for spotting on a holiday? That seems excessive. One of these days I'd like to hear the detailed story from you.

Nice shots! The first time I ever went spotting at JFK was on 9/11/04 and had no problems with anything... and that was in the Air India lot.

Nice shots Sergio, its a shame the Piedmont was in better light or it would be spectacular.

I personally believe doing something to pursue our love of Aviation is a very fitting way to spend 9-11.

I have a good friend who is not on this site but is a long time serious avation enthusist, who as a Dispatcher for United has jumpseat access on numerous airlines. Every year he takes off from work to fly somewhere on 9-11. This year he flew from his home in IND to BOS to visit the new 9-11 memorial at the airport (its on the grounds of the Hilton Airport Hotel). He then was planning to take either the DL or US Shuttle to LGA, when he saw the 1030 Delta was operated by MD88 N911DE he knew he wanted to fly on it and he did. I got to visit with him for a few minutes before he boarded his return flight to IND on a Chautauqua E-145.

Again pursuing our hobby in some shape or form I think is a great way to spend 9-11.

    Regards

    LGA777

Thanks! That's US2179 to DCA; I was later on that aircraft onboard US2188.
