Interesting article. Bell knows its business model(s) better than I ever could hope to, so they are probably making a sensible decision, but overall, I imagine Agusta is correct in the long term and there is a viable niche in the civilian market. Over time, perhaps better than that.

Given the horrific reputation of the military variant, I can't imagine that it was real popular among people who could afford various alternatives.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

good riddance! i say park these and bring back beech starships.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Funny i saw the bell 609 at Farnborough airshow today.

It seems Augusta westland will be handling the Sale and manufacturing of this machine which could get a lot of orders with its special abilities hi peed flight long range vertical flight and landing in very small spaces.

it may even get used by some countries in a form of Search and Rescue vehicle replacing some helicopters which have filled that role. :D
