    Embracing The Blue

Couple of weeks ago I was out spotting at JFK, and ran into a couple of out-of-towners who commented they thought they had seen JetBlue's entire fleet in the past couple of days. That got me to thinking, we see these jets all the time, and often think "Just another JetBlue" as one goes past. But rather than complain as yet another blue jet goes by, I thought it would be a challenge to see if I could catch them all. I found a JB fleet list on line, and going through my photos from the past couple of years, found I have already shot nearly 120 of their 140-ship fleet. I've uploaded most of them to a gallery on my web site:

And it turns out in an hour at Firestone yesterday afternoon, I caught one more that I was missing. With a little luck maybe I'll have them all by the end of the summer.

I dedicated most of 2006 to this. At the time I had a count of 78 different jetblue Aircraft.

I've wondered about that too, Moose. One day after getting bored with all the RJs taking off from LGA I determined I had shot 10% of American Eagle's ERJs within about an hour's time. That has lead me to think about all the photographers and all the aircraft in the world. Who has caught the biggest percentage of the world fleet? Has anyone shot every member of a large fleet, like AA or BA? It would be cool if JP or A.net added stats like that.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

    Re: Embracing The Blue

I've been working the last month on organizing all my shots...I should have been organizing from the start, but I know better now. Hopefully I'll have things all square in another few weeks. It's obviously more work than I thought. I think I have at least 75% of the Eagle 135/140 fleet, 90-100% of the Colgan fleet, at least 50% of jetBlue. It's going to be interesting to see.
