SCL Santiago de Chile Spotting Pics 3/16 + 3/22

For spring break 08 I've been accompanying 37 Vassar Students, to whom my mother is the director of the trip, touring throughout Chile. I'm adopted as some of you know and my birth-father was from Chile so I was looking forward to this trip a lot. One of my favorite airports also happens to be SCL so I was very excited about getting a chance to finally visit. The design of the terminal and airport is really something.

Anyways I had a free day today in Santiago and my father and I rented a car and headed out to the airport around 7:30 in the morning. We stayed until 3:00 in the afternoon because a lot of clouds were rolling in. Figures, the one day that I chose to spot the clouds come. It has been ridiculously sunny here!

    Enjoy!

Nice work, Gordon, I'm very pleased! I think you've done a good job of capturing aircraft from a variety of angles available at that airport, which is something to be proud of.

Glad you caught my EC-JPU, on which I flew a few nights ago!! (Had another lovely Iberia A340-600 flight tonight back to JFK :D )

Well I'm sitting in the SCL terminal waiting for my flight to Miami, connecting to JFK, and I just saw the LAN A340-300 departure to MAD and FRA takeoff and a LAN A340-300 just arrived as well.

I spent an hour at the airport earlier today to get a shot of the Air Comet A340-300 departure to MAD and to my surprise the Russian IL-96 was also here parked over by the maintenance center. It has been like UN week here the last two weeks with the Ecuador 727-100, Air Force 2, Italian A319, and now the IL-96 here at SCL.

Thanks for the comments guys and SCL is such an amazing airport for spotting. Zero problems and amazing spots.

Great shots Gordon. I notice that the TAM A330 in your shots all had PW engines while the ones we caught at JFK all had GE engines. Wondering why?

TAM recently took delivery of 2 new A330-200s which are PT-MVM and MVN which have different engines then the rest of the fleet.
