AA jet flies with 5 people aboard

So I wonder how many Greenpeace protesters would have to be shot to reduce greenhouse emissions by 43.2 tons?

I've often wondered that. Eco people mean well, but they don't have the right to claim they know better, as this article implies.

I consider myself relatively green, but most eco freaks are just nuts. If they were true to form, most of them would never drive a car.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Last year I flew a 14 hour flight on a 273-seat aircraft with only 5 people on board.

    It happens.

I assume these guys are anti-airshow as well?

Chances are the plane was going to fly back to Chicago with over 200 people on board. So how do they suggest planes move from one place to another? How do they suggest people move about the earth?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

I remember last year there was a news story that eventually got picked up by CNN about British Airways flying an EMPTY A320 from Heathrow somewhere close by every night just so they do not lose that gate... They would not even sell tickets for that flight :(

If they were with trying to get to one of their greenpeace meetings and they were told that they could not go because there were not enough people to fill the plane that they purchased a ticket....you would probably see some blood.
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

Everyone has those empty plane stories, but AA must of needed the plane to be relocated for future flights... so its justified I guess

It's almost as if these environmentalists and the media have no idea about the airline industry. Odd.

I hate to break it to them, but every airline everyday flies planes empty. Wether its repositioning flights or FCF (test flights) they happen every day.

Another way to look at this is to ask wether or not AA actually wanted to spend all the money to fuel a 777 if they didnt have to. If they didnt need the airplane to fly back full or could have avoided it trust me they would have. No one wants to fuel up a 777 with only 5 paying pax onboard.
