A few weeks ago, I was at home with my son and flipping through the channels on a Sunday afternoon when I tuned into
La Boheme.
This was my first time watching an opera and I have to say, I was completely enraptured by it all. I mean, I enjoy musicals, Broadway shows and movies a great deal, and hated the only ballet I went to, but this was intense.
I mean, while I like classical music (thanks to early childhood exposure in Tom and Jerry and Looeny Tunes!), I can't really say I'm 'into' it to any real extent. I enjoy it when its there.
Perhaps it was the widescreen and extremely vivid Hi Def picture that I was seeing or the soaring sounds that permeated through the room. I found myself really enjoying it.
Fast forward to this morning and now La Traviata was playing on the same channel, Gallery HD.
Again, I was just taken by it. At times, I was not paying attention and I found it relaxing but when I tended to it, I was taken into the scenes.
I think it airs again this evening at 5 and 9 PM and midnight.
I have to tell you, if you can have a look, do so. I found myself really enjoying it.
