With clear skies, and winds out of the northwest, I headed out to JFK this afternoon for a little spotting. Started at HoBe - just missed a great banking departure of a JAL 744 while sitting on Cross Bay Blvd. Unfortunately, it was one of the few decent departures of the afternoon - things were dead out there!
Here's the only decent departure shot I got in over an hour at HoBe, although I did meet up with another (pro) photographer I've shot with there before, so at least I wasn't standing around in the cold all by myself![]()
With nothing moving on the airfield, we headed over to Firestone. It was Triple-7 day at JFK, starting with El Al...
And a pleasant surprise, a second El Al 777 at the end of the day!
Winglets were also in style.
They may never retire these old birds.
Had an Air China 744 off 31L pass overhead.
The setting sun and growing shadows marked the end of the day, and the end of another great year of spotting.
Hope everyone has a Happy New Year, filled with lots of great aircraft to photograph!
