So I was just browsing the CNN site and saw some cool lightning footage. When I clicked it it said Seista Key which happens to be my residence in Sarasota, Florida.
It is beautiful stuff.

that is really cool, reminds me of the storm we witnessed a few weeks ago at work. there was one other storm of that severity a few years ago when i was working the ramp. it never came near us, moved east over the bronx then passed north of the airport. everything stopped, we just sat around on tugs and beltloaders watching it for 40 or so minutes.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.
Neat. It reminds me when I was sailing off the Keys two years ago. The dingy we had tied to the back only fit one person and was perfect for fishing. So at around 9pm you could sit out there and be in the moonlight while watching the lightning way off in the distance. I cannot think of anything more serene.
