JFK August 11th Recap - Finally Some Good Weather!

After dropping nwafan20 off at ISP we continued onto my Aunt's and Uncle's and had lunch with them out in North Hampton and then headed back towards Poughkeepsie around 4:00pm with a stop at JFK. The weather was finally great this week and just as I got to the airport they switched from 31's to 13/22 which upset me but nonetheless I spotted from Cargo Plaza.

Wow, Gordon. Very nice. What mm and lens were you using on those side-ons? I LOVED the fish effect on the wings.

Phil, I was using a 24-120mm lens for the side on shots.

Yesterday the A340-600s seemed to be sent to 13L for departure so at some point I had both G-VWEB and EC-IOB holding short for 13L. It was great to see EC-JPU come soaring in right next to EC-IOB.

I would have killed to be next to those beauties, the light was so gorgeous!





Something else interesting was that just after TAM A330-200 had touched down the Lufthansa 747-400 came roaring over head and touched down but then went straight back up and performed a go around because the TAM had not finished slowing down!

Matt, you had really unfortuant timing, while I was not out shooting yesterday, it was probably one of the best days (if not the best) for shooting this summer. Hope you had a good time anyway ?
