I was taking the train today to get home.
As the train passed by Stapleton, I saw an aircraft carrier, with what appeared to have old aircraft on the deck.
It had the numbers "11" on the tower.
So is the Intrpeid almost done with its restoration?

the restoration was supposed to take 18 months, doubt it's been done already.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.
I believe that most of the 18 month time is for the pier to be renovated, the ship is painted and is mostly just waiting for the pier to be finished. but I am sure there is minor work going on.
Overheard on JFK TOWER - S Turns are fine, U-Turns are bad....
Anyone else see it on SI?

Yes, I work nearby and see it everyday.
The heavy work was done in Bayonne to be the best of my knowledge, but there is internal cosmetic work (some of it significant I believe) that is supposed to be going on in Staten Island as well. Again, as best as I know.
But yeah, they've got to wait for the Manhattan pier to be finished anyway.
