    LGA 05/12/07

Being I only had a few hours, and since I had not been to LGA in a while, I decided to hit LGA early Sat. morning. I got there at 7am, stayed until 930. I wont bore you with all the normal stuff, but I did try a few different areas of the park, and tried a variety of lenses. So, here are a few of the highlights.

    with the 70-200mm

wanted this one in the worst way...and got it.

with the new lens Sigma 170-500mm

with the 28-75mm lens and a different angle...

Nice shots there John. I've wanted that Spirit bird to, she never seems to come over when I'm out.

Runway 4 arrivals pass right over you at about 200 feet at Plainview Park. 18-55 would work.

I find Plane View and Landing Lights Parks super for approaches on 4.

Last Saturday I was there for takeoffs from 22 ... a first time for me. But the planes were already too high when passing overe and I realized one has to be more off to one side. What I got mostly were belly shots. Walking away ... with everything packed up of course ... I looked back at several takeoffs from a few blocks away and ... WOW ... super side views! NEXT TIME ... if the SW winds are strong enough ...

You can't shoot at Plainveiw park after 11 am as the sun begins to pass overhead and then to the other-side and you have a batch of backlit shots that look terrible. Plainview is great in the early morning as witnessed by John's shots.
