Old AA 747 question and AC 340 question.

I was talking to my retired AAunt. She was at AA for years at JFK. She mentioned to me the other day that many years ago, she non-revved to San Juan or St. Maarten, on their 747. She also mentioned pianos on that plane. Is that right? What routes did AA use the 747 on??

Fast forward to present day, that routes does Air Canada use their A340's on?
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

My mother flew aboard both Pan Am and American 747s between SJU and JFK back in the 70's.

As for the Air Canada A340-300 this is what I could find:

    GRU
    CDG
    SYD
    FRA
    LHR
    NRT
    HKG
    PEK
    YVR
    YYZ
    YUL

    Check out:

About half way down the page, with photos:

When AA launched the 747, there was a worldwide recession, traffic downturn, and too much capacity for the market to absorb. AA turned these economic lemmons into lemmonade by outfitting its 747s with these specially built Piano Bars in the Coach lounge. Reportedly, American for a promotional stunt had Frank Sinatra, Jr perform a concert onboard a transcon flight in the early 1970s.
And a photo of one in use:

    So....

Hey--someone you hate is an AA*hole, right?

We have our group FFOCUS--made up of very nice ffolks who have become good ffriends.

    And on it goes.

The 747 was initially used on transcons and heavy trunk rtes like SJU.

I flew on one in 1982 LAX-JFK redeye.

The pianos were removed by 1973 when the first fuel crisis hit--to make room for more seats.

It flew cargo as late as 1985 I believe then left the fleet due to Crandall's hatred of the type.
    It's the fares, stupid
