Question regarding China Eastern at JFK

I have been going to JFK Airport on some evenings and not once i have seen a China Eastern at JFK. I know that they have either 2 or 4 flights weekly. Those anyone have any idea what days China Eastern serve JFK?

On January 4th they went down to 2xweekly from 4xweekly and come March or April they will be back to 4xweekly.

Flights operate on Thursdays and Sundays I believe.

I would have thought there would be more demand for this, Shanghai is the major business center of China and a nonstop connection to Wall Street is sort of obvious, it was even advertised on the subway (although the ads weren't great). Plus, Chinese New Year is coming. Could the lack of immediate interest in this service possibly be because most Chinese aren't allowed to visit the US? I am guessing if it was a US carrier, say CO, operating this route they would make it work on a daily basis, because most of the traffic on this route originates on this side, where they have the corporate contracts and the brand presence.
