    Some Holiday Photography tips

Every year during the holidays I take an array of photographs that I use on the following years Christmas cards. Over the years I've tried a few things to make each picture and interesting expression of the time of year. I wanted to share with you some of the mind set I use when I shoot.

-Go out with just one lens, try to force yourself to look at things in certain ways.

-For close ups, set your focus manually as close as it will go and focus by moving the maera closer and further away from the subject.

-Think about pictures that transcend the time of year. Take photographs that you might want to play with and print during the upcoming winter months. Its a great time to just sit and see what you can do with Photoshop and practice your skills.

-Take control of your frame. Focus the eye of the view where you want them to look within the frame.

-Look for the real and the abstract, Go beyond the "I was here" pictures.

-Think shapes: Tall, narrow, panoramic, and circular.
-Think sizes: Large, medium, and small.
-Think lines: Use a road, fenceline, or a wall to draw you to your subject.
-Think candid: Truly capturing a moment when someone is not expecting a picture to be take are some of my favorite photos.
