What ever happened to Polar Air Cargo Presence at JFK

Whatever happend to this site at JFK? Not too long ago PAC 747s were a common sight at JFK now they are basically non existant (Atlas too). PAC is owned by GTI (Atlas Air). Have they just decided to phase PAC out? I heard this roumor 3 years ago but am not sure it ever happened. If we are lucky we might get one a week now. Also the PAC/GTI ramp has been serverly under utilized for a now whats going on with that?

I beleive there was a little fleet consolidation if I am not mistaken. I will ask my parents... They deal pretty heavily with Atlas and I know that they own Polar.

That would be the chartered Qantas Atlas Air flight.

Possibly, but some of them are arriving under GTI and PAC codes. The The atlast leases are flying under the QFA.

According to their schedule now the only times you will see them are on Wednesday twice and Saturday twice one to PIK and the other to AMS each on those days. Otherwise that familiar titan will be all you see if the schedule on the site is updated.

    We have one arriving today
Amsterdam Polar Air Cargo 811 05:57 PM In Flight
    747-400

An unfortunate thing to all of this is that we lost a large fleet of 747-100s. By PAC not having theirs now it cut the ones that are still in service by at least half.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

That is building 87 at JFK which we (unfortunately) gave back when the lease ended in favor of some smaller digs over at Bulding 23 , there arent nearly as many parking spots available to us, Although occasionally we are still allowed to park aircraft there if the Port allows. This all was part of a bigger plan which would have given us access to 1 bay of Hangar 19 . Im not sure if or when building 87 will be occupied ( or by who although I have heard either DHL or UPS)

The Polar schedule has dramatically reduced over the last 18 months , I wouldnt look for that to change anytime soon

Of course Atlas parks in various places depending on who we fly for , QF and EK over at NCA ... etc
