    787

When will the first flight of the 787 take place?
Do you think it will do a tour all over the US like thw way Airbus did with the A380?

And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

787 first flight is scheduled to take place sometime in 2007, I am planning to go to Seattle to see her up close & personal!

Certainly looking forward to the 787 getting into the air. Beautiful looking aircraft. Will soothe my eyes after the many years of staring at 767's.

    And on the A380.... Bugger....

I missed it coming back to Sydney on it's route proving tour. Saw it the first time, but not the second :( (And it was a different registration). I missed it because I was stuck on a plane London-Singapore-Sydney (which I'll add at 22 hours flying, was MUCH better than the 24 hours on the way to London).

The first revenue flight for the A380 is still expected to be Singapore-Sydney.... but delays, after delays. It's painful.

The 772LR and 773ER did route proving. The 787 should do route proving as well.

No official announcement, Boeing will probably release the date next year & make it a media circus.

First hint to the date of the 787 rollout....

Meanwhile, Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Scott Carson told The Seattle Times in a year-end interview that there has been a major sea change in commercial aircraft production, evidenced by both the 787 and the newly unveiled A350 XWB. "There's no way you would ever build another purely aluminum airplane," he told the newspaper. Even a new version of the 737 "will be composite in some form or another." Carson conceded that the manufacturer is "behind schedule in Italy" on 787 production but insisted that "rollout and first flight" still will occur next summer.

Undoubtedly due to some Airbus-employed saboteurs who crossed the border from France. :)

I'm part Italian and even I'll admit that behind schedule is the normal way of doing things there...
