    Cathay JFK Question (terminal wise)

I was looking at this shot by Senga of a Cathay A340-300 at JFK. The A340-300 is parked at Terminal 4 and the date reads April 20, 2005.

I thought that Cathay has been at Terminal 7 for a while, no?

    Cathay

Cathay is at Terminal 7 now--perhaps they were at Terminal 4 prior to the move, or they used a terminal which did not have its own Customs Inspection facility-ie. AA domestic or something.

I flew from terminal 7 three times in the past month, and saw all the Cathay signage.
    It's the fares, stupid

    CX A343 at T$....

When Cathay Pacific Airways inaugurated HKG to JFK B747-400 service (CX888/889) via YVR almost close to a decade ago - they originally gated at Terminal 3 until a few years back when they moved to now currently at Terminal 7.
After CX launched the nonstop flight (CX830/831) with the A340-600 about 2 years ago, they downgraded the direct flight from a B747-400 to an A340-300 which has now been reinstated back to a B747-400.
 This shot of the A343 at Terminal 4 sure surprises me too and I need to speak with the photog on the details as to the reason why the plane was docked at T4 on that particular day when it was shot....

My best guess is that T7 was busy (but at 2PM?) or something was going on that temporarily blocked access to a certain number of T7 gates.

I don't think so, the A343 is the via YVR (CX888/889) flight which arrives in the evening and departs at night while the A346 (CX830/831) flight arrives and departs in the afternoon.... :o
I will try to get more info from my PA sources.

I'm guessing the photo was taken around 6:30 since the Air India flight in the backround arrives around that time. Another guess is that CX888/889 went tech the night before and like Will said Terminal 7 may have been full at 6:30 since that it one of it's busiest times.
