shes not supposed to be here till the 20th though.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

There is a Boeing B-17G N390H/42-97849 that now parked at Brianard Airport (HFD) in Hartford. It will be a public touring on this weekend (August 19-20) and the admission fee will be $5.00 per person and $10.00 for family.

    Cheers! :P

I just had to take a run over there tonight. Yes indeed, there is an Aluminum Overcast at the Airpower Museum. The light was all wrong, and the gate was locked, but here she is:

Finally got to put that monopod to good use - mount camera, hit the shutter in timer mode, and use monopod to hold camera over top of fence:

The calendar page for the Teteboro show says "Yankee Lady" will be there for their show. Looks like this area is going to be lousy with B-17s this weekend :!:

Well, I was not going to post them like most of my work because it was
rushed without a tripod....but since you asked, here are some handheld
    driveby shots from last night

now last night I did have some tripod fun but it too was rushed because
I have been spending all of my sleep time helping my wife make a website
for her job....if you can call it that! ;)

Here are two tripod shots from last night...

On a side note...I started a picture a day gallery on my website and had
to start off with some local action!

You can also see a thread on my flight on THIS B-17

John - Would that be N390TH? Liberty Belle? Thats great.

I see I missed Sentimental Journey in Mass this summer. Tough to track them all down.

Anyone else know of this? News to me.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Supposedly "Avitation Career Day" in late Sept. C130 & HH60 Blackhawk from FOK will be on display for the HS kids to see what life would be like in the National Guard. If I hear of anything else coming in, you know I'll post it here.

Talk about a stealth bomber...I stopped by after visiting the Teteboro show earlier in the day, I guess I got to FRG around 3:45, and the place was all but deserted. There were a few people inside the fence looking at the B-17, but nothing else much happening. The museum closes at 4pm, and there wasn't anything indicating it was going to be open later with the B-17 there. I ended up talking with an older gentleman outside the fence who told me about growing up near Roosevelt Field back in the '30s, and saw B-17s flying into the area during WW2.

Finally, someone left from around the bomber, and I asked him when they were planning on flying, so I could get some airborne photos. He said they were done for the day, unless a group showed up with $425 a piece for a ride - he said he's a member of the local EAA chapter. We talked about the sparse crowd, and I remarked that there wasn't even anything listed on the museum website about the visit. He said that was because this visit wasn't part of a museum-sponsored event, rather that it was part of the EAA tour of the B-17, and they had simply made arrangements with the museum to park there. He said it was up to the local EAA chapter to publicize the event, and apparently they didn't do such a good job (it wasn't in Newsday!) He said they were planning a flight around 9:30 Sunday morning, any additional flights would be based on people buying rides.

Since I didn't know how long they would let me stay, and the fence set up around the plane didn't look conducive to anything but tight close-ups, I decided to keep the $6 in my pocket and didn't go in. It's unfortunate that this wasn't publicized better - that's the power of advertising!

Yeah I got over there on my return from a crazy 24 hrs out in Southhampton. I spoke to those guys too Moose. I hung around a bit, took some shots then left when they left around 5 something. He said he had 3 people confirmed for a ride tomorrow. $425 for a flight, the big issue was the weather, and $425 dollars for a 30 minute flight. They said they were departing Monday. There was also a T-45 parked over there too.

Just brilliant on the part of the AAM. "We're not paying for it so why bother going through the very tedious and time consumimg process of updating our website with a few lines of text and possibly getting a some extra revenue from people who want to see the plane."

Saw the Goshawk there myself today. Hope we get a good departure tomorrow.
