August 6th-JFK (Trying out the landing lights)

A surprise from my dad today brought me out to JFK for an afternoon of spotting, I had no clue that Wunala would be in bound to JFK but I soon found out before we left for that airport so that makes things more exciting! Thanks to info from Brian I learned that 13L/22R was in use for arrivals so I headed out to Cargo Plaza. In the beginning of the spotting trip not much was coming over Cargo Plaza, most heavies where going into 22R and of course from Cargo Plaza you can see them. After a little while Eric showed up and then John and we waited for Wunala. She arrived around 5:30 and was beautiful. My dad and I stuck around for a while at Cargo Plaza and I tried some shots with the landing lights. Before we left we swung by Terminal 4 and I got some shots of the aircraft around.
I also have a special shot for Brian of a Saudi Arabian 747-400 landing as I remember they are his favorite?

    Hope you enjoy!

    All very nice.

Did you use a tripod or something to hold the camera with your low light shots???

Re: August 6th-JFK (Saudi shot for Futt)

Nice shots, Gordon...you captured the "mood" very well in those contrasty cloud/sunset shots! The one with the IB 346 passing over the landing lights is my favorite. Will have to try that angle out myself later this year.

As far as letting you know what the actives are, I just called ATIS. 1-718-995-8188. Glad I could help, though. :)

    Thanks!

    Thanks guys :-)

As for the landing light shots, I just sat down on the grass with my camrea in hand.

Sorry about the Saudi thing there Brian, my mistake. I wasn't even expecting a Saudi to come in since last Sunday I didn't see her arrive but there she came right after the TAM A330-200 which I missed but I ran back to catch the Saudi right before the Iberia landed.

Don't sweat it, Gordon. Saudi looks like it came in at 7:44pm (go figure!) last Sunday, so you may have left before it touched down. Keep an eye on them, though, because their seasonal equipment swap to the 772 should happen within the next few months.

Anyway...SVA may not be my favorite, but feel free to dedicate the Wunala shot to yours truly...
