    AeroMexico's new colors :(

They dropped the polished look and went with a painted hull instead. Its not bad but I loved the older colors so much better. :(

Anotherc lassic scheme goes away, kind of reminds me of the US Postal Services 727's Ryan International used to fly around.

Apparently the change in livery is because of the 787. The livery isn't great but it looks decent on the 737-700 but imagine how horrible it will look on the 777-200! The 777-200 in Aeromexico colors is just beautiful, I have seen her myself at MAD and she's quiet a looker.

At least the graphic design and marketing gurus refrained from doing away with the classic AM birdman on the tail, which is the only distinctive element that remains. I think while in the past a livery was important to an airline's image (especially back when passengers had to walk outside and actually see the aircraft), today efficiency dictates a low-cost white color scheme with some graphic label applique on the tail, ideally something that also looks good on the website for branding purposes. In addition to being inexpensive to operate and maintain, this has great benefits to the leasing companies who tend to actually own the planes now (including most if not all of AM's new aircraft). They can just peel off the tail applique and paste on a new one when the plane moves on to its next operator. As the only other operator with bare metal is AA, it is much more likely that the next user of AM's leased 737NGs would prefer to receive a white plane.

I agree with Tommy, not bad but a step down from the current scheme. I wonder how much more fuel a 777 will burn between MEX and MAD with the extra paint and far less bare metal ?

I personally think introducing a new scheme on a factory fresh aircraft where it can be photographed and on the net for a few weeks before it can get formally introduced to the Media and staff is pretty stupid !

An existing aircraft should be painted in secret, kept in the paint hangar, then flown into MEX in darkness (unless AM does this in house, pretty rare these days) then the following morning have a media and staff event for a surprise unveiling.

Love it or hate it, Love US or hate US, this is how we did at US and it was a lot more fun for me seeing our new scheme for the first time walking out onto the ramp in PHL than on a.net or JP thru a fence at the factory.

Just my usual two cents !

    Cheers

    Good points, Ron.

However, I wonder if/when they'll paint their 777s. I have a feeling that they will not be as aggresive in painting many of their other planes.

I agree I think they will just wait till the first heavy check in the T7 before they get rid of the nice paint job for the eurp/mail colors. Shame everyone has given up on classy looking for euro white these days minus AA> I would imagine that the next ones to get it will be the 757 and 762's

It is a notch below what it was.

And that "dash of red" looks like a quick afterthought. Looks unconnected.

might be just me but it really reminds me of....the new US Airways Scheme, at quick glance.

Those aren;t their flag colors. Would be cool is Mexico really did something unique with their Flag colors
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

I got a heads up email that the hand over will occur here in Las Vegas. Did not get the details as to why..but the date Aug 11th was added.

I'll be down at LAS on that moring but delivery flights from BFI usually leave late morning and I have to work at 1 p.m. so I will probably miss it!!

She showed up today in the downwind to RWY 19R. Imagine my shock when I saw her. I jumped in the truck and raced over to the westside of the field and got these pics thru the fence. Been one hell of a week for spotting!!

It kinda grows on you when you see her in the flesh!! LOL

Looks like we will see the first Aeromexico 777-200 in new colors in two weeks. PP-VRA (ex-Varig bird) will be heading off to China for two weeks for a refurbishment and Aeromexico colors. I imagine it will be painted in the new colors.

to be honest, it's not that bad. i'm a bare metal fan, and i honestly like the old scheme much more than the new one. i can understand that they need that liv on the 787, but why introduce it now?
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.
