    Some Alaskan Photos

I recently ordered something online, and I saw that it was coming from Bellingham, WA. As I found the location, it reminded me of my trip last year to that area. I started looking through my photos, and I think I found some interesting ones. I saw some of the kickass photos by the other members from Alaska, and I was reminded of what great photos you can get from that beautiful part of the world.

All were taken with my trusty Fujifilm F10 (P+S). All fully unedited.

    Enjoy!

Pulling out of JFK... 4 hours late, all of which spent on the plane on the tarmac...

Is that Fat Albert? I only looked at this photo in detail about an hour ago...

Juneau, anyone? I don't think you can shoot with an SLR while riding a bike.

    Sunset at sea.

    Whales... (two completely different days)

At sea- I always seem to know what to order...

Very nice shots, Mark! Thanks for sharing. And yes, that looks to be Fat Albert in the third photo. And that's an E-3 AWACS to the right of it. Where was that shot taken?

Thanks, I was trying to figure that out. The aircraft on the far right has gotten me thinking. At first I thought it was an MD-11/DC-10 type, given what I thought was a tail mounted engine, but the size was all wrong. After a little Googling, I think it looks to be a 737 Wedgetail AEW&C aircraft.

Thats awesome dude! I'm doing almost the same itinerary as you in about a month. What cruise line did you take? Anything special to do in the ports of call? We are also doing the scuba diving :) Was it any good?

    Re: Some Alaskan Photos

Hmm... We took NCL's Norwegian Star.

    Our ports of call were:
    Ketchikan- Snorkeling
    Juneau- Biking / Mendenhall Glacier
Skagway- Helicopter Glacier Tour / White Pass and Yukon Route Railway
Prince Rupert- Wilderness Exploration or something (Aboard a DeHaviland Beaver flying into Canada's wilderness [Nothing like experiencing severe turbulence in a tiny plane! :D]) We saw grizzlies!

Out of them all, I'd say they were all fun, but if I had to rate, the Helicopter Tour would definitely be the best.

The snorkeling was fun as well; makes me wish I bought a waterproof cover for my camera.

I went with my family and relatives, and we split up into different activities a couple times. They said they enjoyed kayaking.

No matter where you go, you're probably going to find salmon swimming upstream at this time of year, which is an amazing sight.

I dug up a couple more pictures.

Great shots! From one Alaskan Traveler to another, spectacular shot of the Mighty Mendenhall. On approach to JNU it is a fantastic view.

Great thread and asst of photos. One of the best I've read.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.
