Zee71 and I tried a few different angles from the bridge at HoBe but still no clear shots...

And a longer lens would not necessarily get you better images. Heat shimmer was horrible and the best shot I got was resting on the railing... the wind was bad and the lens acted like a sail, tough for sharp pics. Note these were at 650mm + 1.5 crop factor !! bad IQ at full size.

She said that, but I have a feeling she wasn't really sure. When I snapped the photo's another guy stated towards the end of the week. I'm thinking Friday as well.

Bottomline.........we'll have to keep our ears peeled, eyes wide open, and shutters ready to go!!!! I'm carrying my camera with me to work this week just in case someone here posts something about this bird departing.

Bloody f$#%@ing hell. I did nothing on Saturday, went in to Manhattan on Sunday, but decided to just stay in the City and not go out to Queens, and all this time, a Dreamlifter was sitting there! So, I shuffled some pieces of my schedule around and cleared out tomorrow afternoon for some Jamaica time. Can someone please chock it until 4:30 or so?

EDIT: Just remembered it belongs to Atlas now and not Evergreen. Is it parked somewhere that's visible from the terminals? Don't care about photos; just IDing the thing.

No. When it was parked at building 87 you could at least get a nice shot from the fence at cargo service road but now its all the way on the other side of the airport in an isolated area, hanger 19. You would need to be on the AOA in order to get it on the ground. Otherwise You need to be around JFK and keep an eye open. Rumor is that it is departing sometime on friday.

Aargh. Even if it's all the way out there, I should be able to see it from the Lefferts/Long Term Parking AirTrain stop, right?

Thanks to all; turns out it was visible from the monorail on the Federal Circle-T1 leg, and with all credit to Nick, I'm calling it the Snake from now on - that's exactly what it looks like!

Looks like planned to leave now 630pm Fri evening. Not the greatest light , looks like the winds will favor the 31's into tomorrow afternoon

Sun set officially at 6:06PM and given that it will likely be LATE taking off, not so sure the light would be terrific. However the advantage is that they will likely do a Breezy Poit Climb or a Canarsie Climb which would make it face the sun. If they turn early, we could be doomed from HoBe with belly shots... is it OK to go right on the beach up to the train tracks? or is that area forbidden? Not the tracks, just near them.
