• A goodbye smooch was the cause of the big security scare at Newark last week. A man stepped beyond a rope to bid farewell to his lady, where a guard should have been. The guard has since been placed on administrative leave.
• Ryanair indicates that they have no intention of making a third attempt at a bid of Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus. After two failed tries, Aer Lingus’ continued financial difficulties has made another attempt less appealing. [FlightGlobal]
• Flights out of Sarasota and Tampa, Florida were delay a few hours this morning because of icing conditions. Though they don’t get much ice there, they both employed the largest de-icing machine in the world….the sun. The planes sat to fake-bake until the ice melted, sending people to places probably colder than the Sunshine State. [Herald Tribune]
• Word of advice; don’t wear work clothes during burglary. A former Southwest employee was caught by feds after a Chicago bank robbery because he was wearing not only a Southwest sweatshirt, but also the reflective vest. Several bank employees identified the man after being shown airline employee photos. [CBS2Chicago]
